In learning to treat this part of the body, through ayurvedic abdominal massage, we can unlock a range of health benefits. A range of imbalances can be addressed through the practice of abdominal massage making it an essential tool for any practitioner.
In Ayurveda the abdomen is considered both physically and energetically to be the centre of the body. Within our bodies the abdomen houses our organs. It is where we feel our emotions deeply, from a wringing stomach ache to a feeling of butterflies. Much of our experience lives in our abdomen and we feel the effects when things are out of balance.
Learning the practice of Ayurvedic massage will also inform you of the emotional and mental benefits of this work. The abdomen contains a vast network of energy centres. Ayurveda teaches that physical challenges in this area can be a symptom of a blockage of energy. Ayurvedic abdominal massage directly addresses these issues and by treating the digestive system will bring in huge benefits to the client.
From a physical perspective abdominal massage can support the muscles in this area, helping to tone the abdomen and support, break the cellulites and helps to burning of abdominal fat. Abdominal massage also helps to release tension in this area and so can be a great relief for those who suffer with conditions such as constipation, IBS or acute back pain resulting from the abdominal region.
By the end of the course, you will be confident to share this life supporting practice with your clients and well on your way to offering the healing and restorative work of Ayurvedic abdominal marma massage.
